Reports
Job seeker activity report, October 2026
Headline numbers
Read together: most job searches are short and bursty. The typical active person has been looking for under a week and was active on 2 days in the month, which is why timing matters more than volume when reaching out to known candidates.
Search intensity
Intensity is the number of active days in the last 30: low, medium or high.
Where people are looking
Share of active job seekers by main occupation area, among the 2,087,102 with a known area.
Which day people search
Last-activity day for the 2,934,800 active people. Tuesday is the peak; Saturday the trough. Recruiter outreach timed for Monday and Tuesday reaches people while they are looking.
Method
Each night CoverClicks builds a profile for every person seen on a participating job site, keyed by the one-way hash of their email. This report counts profiles whose last activity falls in the 30 days before 2026-10-21. Duration is days from the start of the current search to the last activity. Occupation area is inferred from the jobs viewed and searched. Figures are network-wide, not a sample of any one site, and are not weighted to the US labor force.
