What is dormant candidates?

Dormant candidates are the people in an ATS, CRM or job-site database who have shown no activity for a long time, usually most of the database, and who become valuable again the day they start a new job search.

Dormant candidates

On a typical staffing database most records are dormant: the person was placed, dropped out, or simply stopped replying. The records still have value because the candidates are known and pre-screened, but nobody knows when any one of them is worth a call.

Dormancy is a state, not a verdict. People change jobs every few years, and each time they do they show up on job sites again. A dormant list matched nightly against network-wide job-search activity turns into a steady trickle of people who are back in the market, with your own record id attached so the recruiter opens the right record.

For job sites the same idea applies to users who stopped opening emails: knowing which of them are active on other sites tells the site which re-engagement sends are worth making.

Questions

What share of a dormant list comes back each month?
It depends on the industry and how old the list is, so the first 500 free matches are the honest way to find out for your own list. CoverClicks publishes network-wide activity figures monthly.
Do I have to re-upload my list?
No. A connected ATS or CRM is re-read on a schedule, and a file list can be replaced by API as often as you like. New leavers are matched from the next morning.
